The profiling phase
In accordance with the standard period of study, the specialisation phase comprises four semesters during which 120 ECTS (120 of 180 ECTS) should be completed. It allows students to customise their studies. Here, students can choose modules from different subject areas (majors) according to their own interests and against the background of certain requirements, so that they can focus specifically on their Bachelor's degree programme.
In the profiling phase, you largely decide for yourself which modules you choose. You will therefore be confronted with the following questions during the second semester: Which modules do I take in the profiling phase? How do I organise my studies so that I am optimally prepared for my professional life?
It makes sense to address these questions as early as possible in order to make a conscious decision in favour of a particular module combination and to be able to plan your further studies thoroughly.

Introduction to the profiling phase
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics offers a wide range of teaching and research opportunities that allow students to develop an individual profile during their studies.
Every year in the summer semester, the "Taxation, Accounting & Finance" module provides an overview of the teaching focus of the individual departments in order to make it easier for students to transition to the profiling phase and select modules for the coming semesters. In addition to the Faculty's Office of Student Affairs, which will present relevant information on the organization of studies and examinations at the beginning of the event, representatives of the six departments will present their main areas of focus, selectable modules and corresponding career prospects. This gives students the opportunity to get to know the departments and gain a closer insight into the respective areas in order to align the planning of the profiling phase with their own interests and possible specializations.
