Our focus and our mission

Globalisation and technological change are the driving forces behind growth and competitiveness, both at company and country level. Over the last three decades, the global growth process has made new major economies such as China and India, as well as a number of other emerging economies, important parts of our global economy. At the same time, there is still a large prosperity and development gap with our direct neighbours in Africa.

The prosperity, well-being and participation of as many people as possible is a central goal in our democratic societies. To make this possible, we need to understand global market mechanisms and financial markets and shape the economy and politics accordingly. We are also facing the challenges of climate change. Our economic activity in Germany, Europe and worldwide must become sustainable if we do not want to expose our children and grandchildren to dramatic catastrophes caused by climate change. This is also a key economic problem that we need to solve.
