Orientation for your perfect start to your studies
Are you about to start your degree programme at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics? Whether you're fresh out of school, have already completed an apprenticeship or have already taken modules at another university - here you'll find all the information and support you need for the perfect start to our Bachelor's degree programmes!
The orientation week
In the first week of lectures, there is a general welcome by the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and you will find out how studying with us works. In addition, the programme coordinators and student representatives will organise a welcome programme. You will go through this programme in small groups.
- Period: 01.10-04.10.2024, start 01.10.2024 at 8.30 a.m.
- Group allocation:You will be assigned to a group before the orientation week.

If you have not received an e-mail about the orientation week or your enrolment has not yet been completed, please contact the Office for Academic Affairs by e-mail at studium@wiwi.upb.de and also state your study programme. It is also possible to come to the university for the first session of your degree program according to the information on this website. There will be information stands on the first level in building Q on 01.10. Please use our site plan.

Students on a teacher training programme take part in the introduction to the PLAZ. The subject introduction to economics takes place on Wednesday as part of the PLAZ programme.
The Peer Metoring Programme
From the first day of your studies, you will be supervised and supported in small groups in the peer mentoring programme. You will have an experienced student as a contact for questions about studying or student life. In small groups of like-minded people, it is easier to get used to the new environment, you will make your first friends and receive tips and help with individual problems.
The mentoring groups are organised during the orientation week.
You can arrange the dates for the next meetings individually with your mentor. We recommend weekly meetings. You can meet with your group in the seminar rooms that have already been reserved in advance or choose another location that suits you best. You can decide on topics and questions yourself so that the counselling remains on a personal level.
Accompanying online course
- Registration is possible from 1 October via the university account.
- On the IMT website you will find step-by-step instructions for creating a university account as well as help if you have not received a letter with a TAN.
Pre-course arrangement semester ticket WiSe 24/25
As the digital Germany semester ticket is not valid until the start of the semester on 01.10.2024, a provisional non-digital ticket can be issued, which entitles participants in the pre-courses to use public transport in the Paderborn city area free of charge.
Validity of the ticket:
- from 01.09.2024 to 30.09.2024
- in conjunction with an official photo ID
Area of validity of the ticket:
- in the bus route network in the city of Paderborn
- PaderSprinter GmbH / go.on Gesellschaft für Bus- und Schienenverkehr mbH / BVO Busverkehr Ostwestfalen GmbH
The ticket can only be collected in person from 01.09. in the service area of the AStA in the ME U building (under the mensa) during opening hours Mon-Fri 10-15.30. Please remember to bring a current certificate of participation in a preliminary course at Paderborn University and a photo ID!
