Mission of the professorship
Macroeconomics is a field of economics that deals with the relationships between economic aggregates. Among other things, it involves analyzing key economic variables such as the aggregate output of the economy, inflation, and unemployment. At our Chair we also pay particular attention to international interdependencies between national economies, e.g. in the form of international trade and foreign direct investment, as well as to the functioning of and the challenges on the labor market.
Our research
Our main research areas are international economics and labor economics. Our current research focuses on the effects of globalization on the labor market, the interplay between globalization and digitalization, and the various effects of global value chains.
Our teaching
We offer courses in macroeconomics, international economics, and labor economics. In our teaching, we place great emphasis on the link between theory and empirical evidence. Many of our courses are taught in English. We are also happy to supervise bachelor and master theses that are thematically related to our teaching and research areas.
In the winter semester 24/25, our chair is offering students of the repeat exam of the fundamentals of economics the opportunity to take part in weekly repeat tutorials. Further information can be found in the 'News' section.
