Gain intercultural competence with us at Paderborn University!
Studying abroad at Paderborn University is always primarily coordinated by the International Office. The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics will only get in touch with you when it comes to choosing a course.
Studying at our faculty may differ in some respects from studying at your home university. In order to give you an overview of all the important details, the university therefore supports you with various offers of help and information websites.
Knowledge for studying at the faculty
The modules at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics usually have a scope of 5 or 10 ECTS, with 1 ECTS point corresponding to approximately 30 semester hours per week. In addition, most modules consist of various sub-modules that cannot be attended individually and independently and can only be passed in their entirety.
It is particularly important for students studying abroad that the modules of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics do not have any repeat examinations. In addition, they are only offered once per academic year (with a few exceptions).
The last point in particular is important for study planning. If a module is not passed, it must be repeated in its entirety. However, this is no longer possible in the same academic year.
You should therefore choose your modules in such a way that your further course of study does not depend on a single module examination. This applies in particular if you would like to switch to a further study cycle following your degree programme or if a scholarship is linked to successful module examinations.
Module selection
The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics is particularly important for all exchange students when it comes to choosing modules. The university offers a number of useful tools to help you find the right modules for you and your degree programme.

Support services for international students
Starting a degree programme at a new university, especially in a foreign country, can be quite overwhelming under certain circumstances. However, to make it easier for you to start your studies, the Faculty regularly organises an information event for exchange students at the beginning of each semester. You will be informed about all the important dates and interesting facts about studying at the Faculty. You will also be introduced to contact persons who can support you with various topics during the rest of the semester.
If you are looking for a platform where you can socialise with other (exchange) students, the International Office, together with Eurobiz, offers a number of activities. In addition to numerous day and weekend excursions, country evenings, football and volleyball tournaments, barbecues and parties are also organised. You will also have the opportunity to get to know exchange and Eurobiz students better at a weekly get-together.
You can find more information about support during your stay here.
