The 21st European Health Economics Workshop took place on Friday and Saturday, 24th and 25th of July, at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at Paderborn University. The workshop offers a great opportunity to active scientists in the field of health economics to exchange their current research and to further expand their scientific network. This year, researchers from different parts of Europe and the United States gathered together at Paderborn University, presented their current work and exchanged their ideas in a highly interactive and productive atmosphere. A total of 11 presentations was each followed by discussions, and participants of the workshop could share their knowledge on important aspects of economics of healthcare markets.
The workshop began by a keynote lecture given by Prof. David Bardey from University of Los Andes (Columbia) in which he gave an overview of two-sided markets in healthcare markets. In his talk, he drew the attention of participants to existing two-sided markets in healthcare and discussed their characteristics respectively. On Friday night, all participants of the workshop attended the conference dinner, where they could continue their discussions in a friendly and relaxed environment. The workshop ended on Saturday afternoon.
Once again and after two years of not having the workshop due to the pandemic, the possibility of exchanging information in face to face situation, gave participants a fruitful experience and highlighted the importance of such conferences for improving and developing research ideas. The 22nd European Health Economics Workshop will take place in Augsburg, next year.
