in conversation with Dr Marius Neukom and Prof. Dr Juliane Fuge
moderated by Jürgen Wiebicke
Teachers and educational subject areas and managers are faced with the daily task of dealing with challenging personalities, stressful feelings and complex group dynamics. To do this, they need more than just specialised knowledge: self-competence and social skills are indispensable resources that are unfortunately often neglected. The ability to self-reflect, to think about one's own experiences and behaviour in relation to others, is of central importance for empathetic and reflective interaction with young people and can be developed in a targeted manner.
In academic education, these "soft skills" are overshadowed by specialised theory. What would it look like if we changed this? Dr Marius Neukom, psychoanalyst and expert on emotions and self-experience, and Prof. Dr Juliane Fuge, winner of the Paderborn University's sponsorship and teaching award, will provide insights into how the professional identity of teachers develops and how the ability and willingness to self-reflect can be specifically promoted in training.
You are invited to take part in the dialogue on the following questions:
- What is the importance of self and social skills in teaching?
- What role do self-reflection, emotions and personal bonding and relationship experiences play?
- How can we promote the development of a realistic professional identity in prospective teachers?
- How can we introduce prospective teachers to the teaching profession in such a way that they can continue to develop their personal and social skills after their training?
- What consequences does this have for the organisation of teacher training?
This event is aimed at anyone interested in the professional handling of emotions and relationships in educational contexts. After the discussion, you are cordially invited to discuss the topics in more depth in a relaxed atmosphere and round off the evening with a few snacks.
