First round of the new master's module "Process Mining" successfully completed
The end of the lecture period also marked the end of the Master's seminar "Process Mining" offered by Dr Christian Bartelheimer for the first time in the winter semester. Process mining is a technology for analysing process data. The aim is to systematically analyse and evaluate business processes so that various processes can be improved. Process mining makes it possible to visualise the process in its entirety and thus make hidden process knowledge tangible. As a cooperation project with Enervie Vernetzt GmbH, 31 students from Paderborn University had the opportunity not only to familiarise themselves with the basics of process mining, but also to put what they had learned directly into practice.
Final presentation in front of high-ranking representatives of Enervie Vernetzt GmbH
Under the expert guidance of Dr Christian Bartelheimer and Bernd Löhr, the students first learnt the theoretical basics of process mining in a theoretical part with lectures and exercises. In the subsequent practical phase, the students worked in small groups to analyse a data set provided by Enervie Vernetzt GmbH. Alexander Skolik, who works at the chair of Prof Dr Daniel Beverungen, played a key role in coordinating the collaboration.
As part of the final presentation in Zukunftsmeile 2, the results were presented to high-ranking representatives of Enervie and discussed together. In his closing statement, Henning Karl, authorised signatory at Enervie Vernetzt, thanked the students for their excellent work and emphasised their interest in future collaboration with the chair. The students were also visibly satisfied with their performance.
