Successful conclusion of this year's banking seminar at Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf
How does a bank deal with risks? And which risks exactly do you need to pay attention to? The continuous development of internal risk management is of central importance for banks. In order to pass this knowledge on to students as practically as possible, Prof Dr André Uhde and Simone Voigt from the Chair of Banking and Finance at Paderborn University offer the "Seminar on Banking" every year. This year, the seminar took place for the second time in cooperation with Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf.
During the semester, the students worked in small groups on so-called project profiles, which included problems that had already been implemented in practice. In addition to ESG implementation and operational risks, for example, the benefits of IRBA were also discussed. In regular interim meetings, the students received both methodological and conceptual support from the chair team.
On 5 June, the students presented their finished project results to representatives from Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf. Together with Dr Christian Farruggio, Sonja Warkulat, Antonia Terriuolo, Alice Drube and Tatjana Heine from Deloitte GmbH, the students discussed their results and thus gained even deeper insights into the topic. "It is particularly noteworthy that the students worked on projects that had already been supervised by Deloitte Risk Advisory in practice," said Prof Dr Uhde.
The students not only benefited from the presentation and discussion of their project results. They also had the opportunity to engage in intensive dialogue with the representatives from the practice over lunch. In addition to questions about everyday working life, they were able to find out about internships and possible career opportunities.
The seminar concluded with a presentation by Dr Christian Farruggio, Director Risk Advisory at Deloitte. He provided valuable insights into the current consulting business. Due to the excellent support and successful cooperation with Deloitte, the seminar is to be continued in the coming summer semesters.
