The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics is pleased to announce the winners of the Teaching Award 2023. This semester, for the first time, it was not outstanding lecturers who were nominated, but the best modules. Two prizes were awarded to recognise the diversity of teaching formats - from interactive seminars to comprehensive Bachelor's lectures.

Prof. Dr. Kirsten Thommes - Organisational Behavior

This year's prize for the "small" module goes to Prof. Dr. Kirsten Thommes for her module "Organisational Behavior". The nominations particularly recognised the innovative project work in which the students were able to carry out their own scientific experiments. The structured design of the module with different phases of theory and application and a mid-term exam in the middle of the semester was also emphasised, as was the continuous feedback during the semester and the inspiring atmosphere in the lectures and exercises.

Prof Dr Simon Trang - Methods of Information Security Management

Among the open courses with a high number of participants, the teaching prize was awarded to Prof. Dr. Simon Thanh-Nam Trang for his module "Methods of Information Security Management". The nominations recognised the interdisciplinary, socio-technical approach to the topic of IT security as well as the outstanding combination of theory and practice. The integration of guest lectures from world-renowned companies such as Google and Amazon was rated particularly positively. Students also praised the opportunity to give feedback to lecturers during the semester, over and above the official evaluation.

Students played a decisive role in selecting the winners by proposing modules and casting their vote on the study advisory board. Students have the majority on this committee and therefore play a key role in selecting the best teaching modules.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics would like to congratulate the winners on their outstanding achievements and thank all students for their active participation in the selection process.
