Paderborn University, together with Bielefeld University, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (TH OWL), has launched the NRWTalente - Region OWL student scholarship programme. The aim is to offer performance-orientated pupils from the 8th grade onwards unique perspectives for career and study orientation. The programme aims to strengthen equal opportunities and educational equality regardless of socio-economic circumstances through individual support. The programme supports participants with professional advice, talent promotion, benefits in kind and a diverse educational programme consisting of events, workshops and excursions. Applications are open to pupils from Year 8 onwards from all secondary schools in OWL who are performance-orientated and whose parents have not studied. Involvement in school, extracurricular or family fields is also desirable. It is important that applicants live in OWL or go to school there and have at least one and a half years of school ahead of them. The application period runs from 26 August to 4 October.
"Thanks to the extraordinary support of sponsors from the OWL region, we are delighted that the programme continues to grow and that we can now once again accept a large number of scholarship holders. We can only encourage all students to apply and seize this special opportunity for a scholarship," says programme manager Jennifer Gläßer. Marcus, 21 years old and current scholarship holder from the district of Lippe, talks enthusiastically about his experience: "My teacher and a previous newspaper article made me aware of NRWTalente - Region OWL and I subsequently submitted my application. The scholarship sponsors education and opens more doors for us scholarship holders for the future." Scholarship holder Patrycja, 17 years old from the Minden-Lübbecke district, is also satisfied: "The programme allows me to develop myself and my interests in different fields and helps me to develop a clearer career perspective."
With currently 105 scholarship holders from all seven districts and independent cities in OWL, the NRWTalente scholarship programme invites motivated and committed students to become part of this success story and fully develop their own potential. The programme is funded by the state of NRW, foundations, companies and private individuals from the OWL region.
