Recognition of modules PRIOR to studying abroad

If you are planning a semester abroad and would like to have your IBS language courses recognised, you will need a Learning Agreement from the IBS Language Department PRIOR to starting your semester abroad. The responsible contacts are:

Courses that correspond as closely as possible to the content of the IBS language courses and are taught at an appropriate language level are eligible for credit. If no corresponding language courses are offered at the target university, recognition of a business seminar taught in the target language is possible - e.g. a marketing seminar taught in Spanish. In this case, it is imperative that the chosen business seminars enable active language use on your part - e.g. through presentations, case studies, academic writing or similar. Courses cannot be recognised if their content is far removed from the subject area of IBS, only allow passive language use or are taught in other languages.

Please contact the responsible contact person and submit the following documents:

  • The correctly completed Learning Agreement,
  • as well as a detailed course description of the course you wish to have recognised, including information about the teaching method, examination modalities, workload, ECTS points and the language level of the course (if relevant).

Language test for ERASMUS students

Since June 2015, there has been an online language test for students taking part in an Erasmus programme. The test is for English, Spanish, French and other languages. Erasmus participants can use this test to monitor their own progress in the foreign language. The test is not provided by the IBS Language Department, but is automatically sent to your e-mail account by the International Office. The test is taken before and after the stay and is compulsory for all Erasmus participants, but only after they have been offered a place. Further information can be found here.
