We are pleased to announce the publication of the new paper "Incentive-Based Platoon Formation: Optimising the Personal Benefit for Drivers" in the IEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems!
Together with Julian Heinovski, Doğanalp Ergenç and Falko Dressler, our professor Kirsten Thommes worked on this project to optimise the benefits of platoon formation for drivers. The goal: a more efficient and environmentally friendly driving style by combining driving time and fuel consumption.
The paper shows how a new metric takes into account the personal benefits of drivers in platoon formation and how these benefits can be maximised by optimising the allocation of vehicles to platoons.
We hope that the research results will contribute to the development of more sustainable transport systems.
