Programme-specific information on the M.Sc. Management Information Systems
We offer you the opportunity to complete your Master's degree with a chosen specialisation, which will also be shown on your degree certificate. To this end, we offer three cross-departmental specialisations:
- Data Science & Decision Making
- Digital Markets & Communities
- Service & Process Innovation
You can find all information on the 3 specialisations here.
Would you like advice? Please arrange a personal appointment!
In the M.Sc. Management Information Systems and M.Sc. Business Informatics study programmes, you will be assigned a professor from the Department of Business Informatics as a mentor at the beginning of your studies who will support you in designing your course content. In joint discussions, you will find out what role you want to play in the digital world and which skills best match these ideas.
We would like to try to assign you a mentor who matches your personal preferences and have created a survey for this purpose. We will inform you of your mentor once the survey has been completed. You can arrange the mentoring itself flexibly with the assigned professor.
If you would like to take up the mentoring offer for MIS/WINFO, please take part in the survey.

With the "Individual Study or Research" (ISR) area, each student can put together their own "package" to individualise their studies. The ISR serves to build a profile in the degree programme and comprises a total of 30 ECTS.
The ISR can be flexibly composed of
- modules of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics that form the profile of the study programme: see module catalogue,
- in terms of the study programme, profile-building modules at foreign universities: see the website of the International Office,
- Participation in one or more research projects at Business Informatics chairs: see website of the Department of Business Informatics,
- Participation in research projects or research-orientated activities in companies.
Examples for the organisation of the ISR:
- Modules totalling 30 ECTS at a foreign university
- Modules totalling 20 ECTS at a foreign university + a 10 ECTS module at the Faculty of Business Informatics
- Participation in a research project of a Business Informatics chair (30 ECTS)
- Two 10 ECTS modules at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics + two 5 ECTS modules at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics
In any case: Discuss your ISR with your personal mentor well in advance!
