Prof Dr Lena Steinhoff in an interview with the F.A.Z

How do you manage to land one of the coveted professorships in business administration - and what alternatives are there if you don't succeed? The VHB Young Talent Barometer 2024, published by the Association of University Professors of Business Administration, sheds light on the opportunities and challenges facing young researchers in business administration.

Fixed-term contracts, high publication pressure and a lack of jobs characterise the everyday lives of many young academics. The results of the 2020/2021 and 2023/2024 surveys offer valuable insights into their perspectives and challenges and serve as a basis for actively shaping the future of the discipline.

Prof Dr Lena Steinhoff, holder of the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Marketing and Digital Transformation, at Paderborn University and VHB Board Member responsible for young talent, was interviewed by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.) on the key findings of the Young Talent Barometer. She emphasises the passion for research that drives young academics into science, but also the need for a plan B. She emphasises that a doctorate in business administration not only opens up attractive career opportunities for academics, but also for practitioners.
