In the press: Prof Dr Caren Sureth-Sloane talks in the FAZ about the role of business administration in change

What can business administration contribute to overcoming current economic challenges - and what do companies expect from science? These questions are the focus of an interview in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in which Prof Dr Caren Sureth-Sloane, Professor of Business Administration, in particular Business Taxation at Paderborn University and Vice President of the Schmalenbach Society for Business Administration, discusses these issues with Dirk Elvermann, President of the Schmalenbach Society and CFO of BASF.

The discussion will focus on key topics such as increasing regulation, global competitive dynamics and the digital transformation. Sureth-Sloane emphasises: "Business administration is at the centre of these developments. Its research provides well-founded analyses, uncovers interactions and supports companies, regulators and politicians in making informed decisions under uncertainty - for example with regard to bureaucratic costs or dealing with regulatory uncertainty.

Special attention is paid to the exchange between science and practice. The Schmalenbach Society creates an important sounding board here: it brings together science,

companies, regulators, politicians and other stakeholders to work together on solutions for the economy of tomorrow. Findings from the collaborative research centre TRR 266 Accounting for Transparency also flow into this discourse - for example on the question of how transparency influences economic behaviour.

The full interview was published in the FAZ on 23 June 2025 and offers exciting insights into the future of business administration - in research, practice and university teaching.
