Uwe Hünemeier, affectionately known as "Hüne" among football fans, will be coming to Paderborn University for a Q&A on 17 June.

As part of Prof. Kirsten Thommes' Organisational Behaviour seminar, the former manager will give students an insight into his career as captain and co-coach of SC Paderborn 07. In addition to questions such as: "How do you motivate your team after defeats?", "How do you integrate young players into the team structure?", "And what is the best way to deal with diversity in a team?", the students will also hear very personal anecdotes from the life of a leading player.

Hünemeier was born in Rietberg in 1986 and began his professional football career at Borussia Dortmund in 2005. In 2018, after stops at Energie Cottbus and Brighton & Hove Albion, he returned to SC Paderborn 07, where he had already played from 2013-2015.

As a centre-back, Hünemeier played a total of 192 games in seven years at SC Paderborn 07 before ending his professional career in 2023 at the age of 37. Since then, he has supported his club as assistant coach under Lukas Kwasniok and helped to further develop Paderborn football.

During his visit to Paderborn University, Hünemeier will demonstrate how leadership lessons from professional football can be effectively transferred to the business world under the motto "From the dressing room to the lecture theatre: Leadership lessons from professional football".
