Master’s students present banking projects at Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf

What are the current challenges facing the banking sector? And how can academic findings be applied in practice? Twenty Master’s students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics explored these questions as part of the ‘Seminar on Banking’ module. The module culminated in July with the presentation of their project findings at Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf.

During the semester, under the supervision of Prof. Dr André Uhde and Simone Voigt from the Chair of Banking and Finance, the students worked in small groups to develop practice-oriented project briefs on current issues in the banking sector. The focus was on topics such as the implementation of ESG requirements, the output floor and the benefits of the Internal Ratings-Based Approach (IRBA).

At the invitation of Dr Christian Farruggio, the students finally presented their findings at Deloitte Risk Advisory in Düsseldorf. Together with Dr Christian Farruggio, Dr Sonja Warkulat, Duy-Khuong Huynh, Max Hoormann and Tatjana Heine, they discussed their proposed solutions and gained valuable insights into the practical implementation of current regulatory requirements.

In addition to the specialist presentations, there were numerous opportunities for personal discussion. The students took the chance to talk to the experts from Deloitte about career paths, work placements and entry-level opportunities.

The Chair of Banking and Finance would like to thank Deloitte Risk Advisory for its long-standing and successful collaboration, as well as for providing students with the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the practical side of the industry.
