For the third time, the Office of Educational Innovation and University Didactics is organising a joint lecture series on the topic of sustainability together with Prof. Dr. René Fahr 's department in the winter semester 2024/25. The lecture series is entitled "UPB for Future" and is aimed at students of all disciplines and study phases, employees and the interested public. The ecological, social and economic dimensions of sustainability are addressed and discussed in weekly lectures.
In his lecture, Mark Edler will highlight current challenges such as climate change, the scarcity of resources and the increasing environmental pollution caused by waste and how these affect the strategic direction of an industrial company. One powerful solution to this is circular value creation. To realise this, however, it is essential to rethink established narratives and transform products and processes. The example of the family-owned company Weidmüller illustrates how this can be achieved in operational practice. In addition to the technical requirements of the circular economy, behavioural economic aspects such as nudging are also explained and a look into the future is ventured.
