The circular economy as a business model – why aren’t we doing more of it?

Location: Hörsaal L1
Organizer: Stabsstelle Bildungsinnovationen und Hochschuldidaktik

About the presentation:

The circular economy is often regarded as a sustainability issue, even though it offers significant economic potential. Circular business models enable additional revenue, greater customer loyalty, reduced reliance on raw materials and new sources of value creation throughout the product life cycle. Using concrete practical examples from industry and after-sales, the presentation demonstrates how companies can successfully translate the circular economy into profitable business models and why the biggest bottleneck is usually not the strategy, but its operational implementation.

About the speaker:

Jochen Trommer has been exploring for many years how the circular economy can be implemented successfully from a business perspective. As Director of Sustainability Consulting at Encory, he combines strategic consultancy with practical experience in establishing and operating circular business models. His areas of expertise include remanufacturing, after-sales, reverse logistics and the circular economy. In his talks, he uses concrete real-world examples to demonstrate how companies can develop measurable business opportunities from sustainability
