How is the German economy developing, and what tasks and challenges does this create for economic and social policy? These are the questions addressed by renowned economist Prof. Dr. Achim Truger, member of the German Council of Economic Experts (Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung), better known as one of the five „Wirtschaftsweisen", in his lecture at Paderborn University.
Under the title „Current Economic Forecast and Challenges for Economic and Social Policy" Truger will provide a well founded overview of the present economic situation and explain the economic and social policy tasks facing Germany. The event is aimed primarily at students and staff of the university; interested guests as well as friends of the Faculty are also warmly welcome. The lecture will be followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.
Prof. Dr. Achim Truger has been a member of the German Council of Economic Experts since 2019 and is Professor of Socio-Economics with a focus on the role and finances of the state at the University of Duisburg-Essen. For many years he has advised governments, parliaments and civil society organisations from the local to the international level, and in 2015 he received the Progressive Economy Award.
