In March, the partners in the BBNE Lobby project met in Paderborn: Neue Effizienz, the German Climate Foundation, Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and Paderborn University. The aim of the meeting was to share previous findings and jointly plan the next steps in the project.
The project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Social Fund (ESF), aims to strengthen vocational training for sustainable development (BBNE) - where it is particularly needed: in companies and social institutions. In four model regions (Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Bremen, Bremerhaven and the Bergisches Städtedreieck), so-called lobby rooms are being created for this purpose - places for exchange, networking and qualification in all aspects of sustainable vocational training.
Vocational training as a driver for sustainable development
Vocational training for sustainable development plays a central role when it comes to making companies fit for the future. It not only qualifies professionals for sustainable professional action, but also strengthens training practice itself: Those responsible for training are enabled to systematically integrate sustainability into teaching processes and thus support operational change in terms of sustainable management.
The project focuses on specific practical needs. Companies, networks and multipliers receive free sensitisation and qualification offers that draw on proven materials from BBNE pilot research and new concepts from sustainability science, climate research and entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship education. This results in practical solutions - individually tailored to the respective local challenges.
Paderborn University is in charge of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) lobby area. As part of the Paderborn Research Centre for Sustainable Economy (PARSEC), the team led by Prof. Dr. Karina Kiepe from the Chair of Business Education, in particular Education for Sustainable Development, contributes its expertise in the fields of business education, sustainable entrepreneurship and the didactic design of sustainable vocational training. In December 2024, the team organised a workshop with retail companies - an event for interested companies from the region will follow in May in cooperation with OWL Maschinenbau e. V.
