For the third time, the Office of Educational Innovation and University Didactics is organising a joint lecture series on the topic of sustainability together with Prof. Dr. René Fahr 's department in the winter semester 2024/25. The lecture series is entitled "UPB for Future" and is aimed at students of all disciplines and study phases, employees and the interested public. The ecological, social and economic dimensions of sustainability are addressed and discussed in weekly changing lectures.
The healthcare sector causes 5.2% of Germany's total CO2 emissions (Health Care's Climate Footprint, 2019). Klinikum Bielefeld gem. GmbH recognises its responsibility to do its part to protect the environment. The overarching goal of the sustainability strategy at Klinikum Bielefeld is to promote a culture of sustainability throughout the entire hospital and thus contribute to a significant and sustainable reduction in CO2 emissions. The presentation will focus on five key topics and provide an insight into how sustainability can be implemented in the healthcare sector.
About the person:
Dana Kros completed a Master of Science in Molecular Biotechnology at Bielefeld University. During her studies, she was a volunteer in the life science student initiative btS e.V. and led a sustainability working group for three years. Dana Kros has been Sustainability Manager at Klinikum Bielefeld gem. GmbH since October 2023. The main tasks of the Sustainability department include developing a medium and long-term sustainability strategy and identifying potential in all areas of the company. In addition, Klinikum Bielefeld is required to submit a sustainability report for the year 2025.
