Application Information

The application has to be submitted online via PAUL. For an overview of the required documents, please click here.

Before dispatch of your application, please check if you comply with the following requirements.

  • Bachelor´s degree  or  equivalent study degree with minimum 180 ECTS, including at least:
    • 80 ECTS Economics  and Business Administration of which
      • 20 ECTS Economics
    • 40 ECTS Quantitative Methods of which
      • 10 ECTS Mathematics
      • 10 ECTS Statistics
    • 10 ECTS Bachelor´s Thesis
  • Final Grade:
    • Please check, if you have completed your Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5, belong to the best 35% of the graduates of your bachelor's year group or if you are able to compensate with an in-depth specialisation in the fields of economics/quantitative methods (for further information look into the category "Admission Requirements").
  • English Proficiency:
    • In addition, please check if you need an evidence for your proficiency in English. This is not necessary, if you can document at least 5 years with lessons in English at school (German institute and in class 5 at the earliest).

 

The application deadlines for students with a Bachelor's degree Wirtschaftswissenschaften or IBS from the University of Paderborn are identical with that for German students (German educational background) with other degrees.

  • Application deadlines for German students: September, 15th for the winter term and March, 21st for the summer term of the respective year

If you obtained a German University Entrance Degree ("Abitur", i.e. at a German secondary school abroad), the application must be carried out via the Registrar's Office.

Before dispatch of your application, please check if you comply with the following entrance requirements:

  • Bachelor´s degree  or  equivalent study degree with minimum 180 ECTS, including at least:

  • Final Grade:
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5, belong to the best 35% of the graduates of your bachelor's year group or ability to compensate with an in-depth specialisation in the fields of economics/quantitative methods up to a GPA of 3.0 (for further information look into the category "Admission Requirements"). The possibility of compensation is checked automatically during the application process.
  • Documentation of English Proficiency (if you can not document at least 5 years with lessons in English at school (German institute and in class 5 at the earliest)) through
    • Studies in English-speaking countries (Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and USA)
    • Accredited English-speaking study program in Germany
    • Language test TOEFL 87  iBT
    • Equivalent proficiency
      • BEC Vantage (Level B2)
      • Cambridge First Certificate Note A
      • IELTS: Band 6,5
  • Documentation of German Proficiency (if you didn't obtain a German University Entrance Degree)
    • Minimum German proficiency level of A2 GER must be proven before the conclusion of the master program
    • Paderborn University offers German courses consisting of 240-hours in duration
    • Proof of language proficiency can be achieved with the following certificates:
      • Certificates of the Goethe-Institut
        • TestDaf (TDN 3, TDN 4, TDN 5)
        • DSH (DSH 1, DSH 2, DSH 3)

Application Deadlines: May, 31st for the winter term of the respective year and November, 30th for the summer term of the following year.

Applicants who reside in the EU must adhere to the deadlines approved for German native applicants. All applications must be sent in paper form to the International Office.

The application should be completed in written form. In order to be accepted, the application documents have to be completed in full.

Important notice on the application via the International Office:

1) Acceptance of application documents by the International Office

 Both incomplete and late applications will be rejected by the International Office. The complete and proper submission of the application lies entirely within the responsibility of the applicant.

2) Reconsignment of application documents by the International Office

There is no return on the application documents. Therefore, we kindly ask you only to send certified copies of your documents and no original copies. If you would like to reobtain your application documents, please attach a self-adressed envelope as well as an international reply coupon to your application documents
