On 23 June 2026, Dr. Luc Sandfort successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “Configurational approaches to individual and multilevel data: Qualitative comparative analyses of competences, leadership, and resources” – the entire team at the Professorship of Human Resource Management extends its warmest congratulations to her!
Since 2021, Luc has focused her research on a methodology that is becoming increasingly important in human resource and organisational research: Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). QCA examines which combinations of conditions lead to a specific outcome. Examples of questions from Luc’s work include:
– Which competence profiles promote team success?
– Which configurations of leadership behaviour lead to positive employee evaluations?
Whilst such questions are often answered using regression analyses, Luc recognises a mismatch between theory and practice – and this is precisely where her doctoral dissertation comes in. For her research, she drew on data from, amongst other sources, two externally funded projects, ‘PredicTeams’ and ‘Change.WorkAROUND’.
Today, Luc is applying her expertise at an HR consultancy. We wish her all the best for her future professional and personal journey and continued success!
