About garage33, the Paderborn University's start-up centre

garage33 is Paderborn University's start-up centre and has been working as an interface between science and business to raise awareness of the topic of business start-ups since 2014. Here, creative minds are shown ways into self-employment - through teaching at Paderborn University, events and workshops as well as individual coaching. In doing so, garage33 not only focuses on good networking and exchange between founders and established entrepreneurs, but also on access to growth capital and start-up grants. The Paderborn start-up incubator thus offers an ideal infrastructure for developing your own start-up idea to market maturity. At the same time, garage33 offers established companies an innovation centre to develop disruptive business models together with young idea generators.

In the last five years, more than 100 start-ups have successfully emerged from the garage33 start-up centre. These have created more than 1,000 jobs in the OWL region. At the moment, garage33 is coaching almost 60 start-up teams.

In addition to workspaces and event areas, a fully equipped media studio for photo, video and sound recordings as well as a maker space have been created on three floors and around 7,000m2. On almost 1,000m2, various workshops offer the opportunity for efficient prototyping. In addition to metal, wood, welding and textile workshops, founders can make free use of rapid prototyping equipment such as 3D printing under the supervision of specialised staff. With the appropriate machines and facilities, new products can be developed and tested here. The workshop landscape is unique in this form in the region.
