Research on hearing – our new podcast is here!

Scientific findings do not have to be confined to academic articles. That is why we at the Chair of Organisational Behaviour, led by Prof. Dr Kirsten Thommes, have uploaded our first podcast episode to Spotify.

We kick things off with our recently published paper ‘Words or Numbers? How Framing Uncertainties Affects Risk Assessment and Decision-Making’ by Robin Bodenberger and Prof. Dr Kirsten Thommes.

The focus is on a question that is constantly relevant in management, politics and everyday life: does it make a difference whether uncertainties are communicated in words or in numbers?

Our study shows: Yes. If the same probability is described using terms such as ‘likely’ rather than a specific figure such as 75 per cent, this alters risk assessment and influences decisions – even when both statements mean the same thing in substance.

With this podcast, we aim to present the latest research in a way that is easy to understand, concise and relevant to everyday life – for anyone who wants to listen to scientific findings whilst on the move.
