Tobias Berg is Professor of Banking at the House of Finance, Goethe-University Frankfurt. His primary research interests include financial intermediation, corporate finance, FinTech, and climate finance. His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Review of Finance, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. His work has been recognized with distinctions including the Review of Financial Studies Distinguished Referee Award, a Journal of Finance “Top 25 Cited Recent Articles” selection, and the EAERE Award for ERC Grant laureates in environmental and resource economics. He has also been ranked among the top German economists in the Handelsblatt ranking. He serves as Associate Editor for the Review of Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Journal of Financial Stability, and previously served as Associate Editor for the Review of Financial Studies. He is Director of the European Finance Association, CEPR Research Fellow, Research Professor at Deutsche Bundesbank, Bridge Professor at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research (SAFE), Research Professor at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), and board member of the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation (FIRM). He has held visiting positions at the European Central Bank and NYU’s Stern School of Business. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Technical University of Munich and a Diploma in Mathematics from the University of Marburg. Prior to joining Goethe University, he was Professor of Finance at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Assistant Professor of Finance at University of Bonn, and postdoctoral researcher at Humboldt University Berlin.
