On Monday, 24 November 2025, Dietmar Dübeler and Björn Schlingmann (KPMG Bielefeld) gave a guest lecture on ‘Accounting and Auditing in Professional Football’ as part of our module M.184.2283 ‘Grundlagen der Wirtschaftsprüfung’ – and the insight into the financial behind-the-scenes of professional sports was as exciting as it was informative. It was particularly interesting to learn how topics such as player amortisation are handled in practice, which are otherwise more familiar from discussions while watching football.
A big thank you goes out to the two lecturers for their in-depth and practical presentation, as well as to all the students and guests who were there this morning and enriched the discussions with their questions.
