Phd students from the Chair for Information Systems at the University of Paderborn presented their latest research at the 26th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). The conference was held in Portsmouth (UK) in June 2018. The main conference theme was to explore topics “Beyond Digitization – Facets of Socio-Technical Change”. ECIS is the annual main conference event of Region 2 (Europe, Middle East, Africa) in the Associate of Information Systems (AIS), such that it is one of the most prestigious conferences in our discipline.
At the main conference, our team presented new methods and software tools for digitalizing local high street retailing with mobile technologies, as well as presented innovative data analytics solutions for a predictive maintenance of agricultural machines. The research reported there has been conducted in the research projects <link https: www.smartmarketsquare.de>SmartMarket² and <link https: www.digivation.de>DIGIVATION, both of which are kindly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).
Beyond discussing their recent research, the conference enabled our PhD students to network with recognized researchers of our discipline, advance their work and their research method skills, and prepare for excelling further in international Information Systems research. A particularly nice event for networking with international researchers was the ERCIS@ECIS event (<link http: www.ercis.org>www.ercis.org), which is regularly hosted at the second day of the conference. We look forward to the next conferences to approach!
