Kristina Wolf wins the Esri Young Scholar Award for her master thesis, which she wrote at the Chair of Information Systems, especially Business Information Systems, and flies to the Esri International User Conference in San Diego. There she has the opportunity to attend workshops and lectures as well as to exchange her results with other students and GIS analysts.
Her work on the topic "GIS-supported broadband expansion - development of a model for identifying pilot areas" shows how GIS technology can support decision-makers and planners in site analyses. The aim of the master thesis was to develop a geo-information model that takes into account the individual customer requirements of a pilot area and weights the criteria differently. The work presents three different customer scenarios and uses both statistical and geographical data sets for decision making, including population size, population density, competitive situation, supply situation, technologies and land values.
