Raphael Grytz, Business Intelligence Experte bei Weidmüller gab in der Vorlesung Grundlagen Management Information Systems Einblicke in die Komplexität vom Snowflake Schema und stellte dar, wieso Data Vault eine neue Möglichkeit ist, Flexibilität in der Modellierung und Abfrageperformance zu erhöhen.

Für seine Masterarbeit mit dem Titel „Identifying and Classifying Toxic Comments on Web 2.0 Platforms“ erhielt Matthew Caron den Preis der Universitätsgesellschaft für herausragende Abschlussarbeiten aus dem Jahr 2017/2018.

Im Modul „Methoden der Data Science“ wurden zwei kursinterne Wettbewerbe durchgeführt. Ziel war die erfolgreiche Anwendung der im Kurs erlernten Datenanalysemethoden auf komplexe Datensätze.
