SFB 901

The aim of SFB 901 - On-The-Fly Computing (OTF Computing) - is to develop techniques and processes for the automatic on-the-fly configuration and provision of individual IT services from globally available basic services. In addition to configuration by special OTF service providers and provision by so-called OTF compute centres, this involves the development of methods for quality assurance and protection of the customers and providers involved, methods for the targeted further development of markets and methods for supporting the interaction of participants in dynamically changing markets.

Further information can be found on the SFB 901 website.

The SFB is structurally organised into three scientific project areas A, B and C. The chair is involved in sub-project A3 (The Market for Services: Incentives, Algorithms, Implementation): We model and analyse the market for composed services. The term "market" describes the "organisation of economic interaction" between the various participants. To understand the incentives of the participants and the evolution of the market, we need to consider the specific characteristics of on-the-fly computing. These include the possible trading relationships between OTF providers and service providers resulting from the technical composability of services, competition between service providers and between OTF providers, and imperfectly observable quality of service.

Further information can be found on the A3 website.

The sub-projects of the CRC were completed after the maximum number of 12 years on 30 June 2023.
