In the Software Innovation Lab at Paderborn University, in the field of Management Information Systems and Operations Research (Prof. Dr. Guido Schryen), a position is available at the earliest possible date in the field of Optimisation of Energy Systems as a

research assistant (salary group 13 TV-L)

The position is initially limited until 28 February 2027 due to third-party funding within the meaning of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG). The fixed-term period corresponds to the approved project period. The possibility of a doctorate/further scientific qualification is given. An extension to complete the doctorate may be possible within the time limits of the WissZeitVG and will be sought.

The SI-Lab is a central scientific institution of the Paderborn University and researches innovations that are essentially made possible by software. As part of the SICP - Software Innovation Campus Paderborn, there are close links with companies and their problems.

 

Field of activity:

  • Collaboration in the research project "FlexLabQuartier" (sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and ERDF/JTF), in which procedures for intelligent, cross-sector planning and optimisation of neighbourhood networks are to be developed and evaluated
  • Conception and implementation of optimisation models and procedures for the efficient design and operation of energy systems
  • Writing scientific publications and presenting research results at national and international conferences
  • Collaboration with industrial partners and implementation of concrete innovations

Recruitment requirements:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) with at least a "good" grade in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related degree programme
  • Sound knowledge in the field of operations research
  • High level of commitment, ability to work in a team and independent working style
  • Very good communication skills in German and English

The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics - Department of Information Systems / Management Information Systems and Operations Research (Prof. Dr. Guido Schryen) - is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible

ResearchAssistant (pay grade 13 TV-L)

with a total of 100 % of regular working hours.

This is a qualification position within the meaning of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG - German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act), which serves to promote a doctoral programme in the field of business informatics. The position is to be filled for the duration of the doctoral procedure, depending on the qualification achieved to date, but generally for a period of 3 years. An extension to complete the doctorate may be possible within the time limits of the WissZeitVG.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and realisation of courses (usually 4 SWS) in the subject areas represented by the chair
  • Independent processing of problems in business informatics, in particular operations research
  • Writing scientific publications for publication in scientific journals and presentation at national and international conferences
  • Collaboration in the application for research projects with practice partners and other research groups
  • Participation in the academic self-administration of the chair and the faculty
