Practical workshop "Future-oriented training in retail: challenges and needs"
The retail sector has been confronted with a number of challenges in recent years. The shortage of skilled labour is another major challenge. In NRW alone, there is a shortage of qualified junior staff for around 35,000 to 40,000 jobs in the retail sector. This results in immense economic consequences.
In-company training is an important instrument for overcoming the shortage of skilled labour and securing the future of the company. To do this, however, it must prepare not only for the news, but also for the future requirements of the world of work. In addition, companies can demonstrably increase their attractiveness as an employer by creating opportunities for participation in corporate organisational processes as part of training.
The standard vocational training positions "Environmental protection and sustainability" and "Digitalised world of work" adopted in August 2021 formulate training content that is identical for all training occupations and relevant to examinations. These are intended to ensure that trainees can acquire the skills they need in a changing world of work. They also explicitly call for the participation of future professionals in company decisions. In-company training personnel require pedagogical and technical support to implement this type of vocational training. However, since the concrete company-specific needs differ, they are generally not covered by the training of trainers. At the same time, there is often a lack of time and financial resources to provide training staff with needs-based further training.
This is where BBNELobby comes in, as part of the "Sustainable on the job - future-oriented training" (NIB) funding programme. The project aims to support companies, including those in the OWL region, by offering training programmes for in-company training staff to make their in-company vocational training fit for the future. We see the cross-cutting topics of sustainability and digitalisation as cornerstones of this.
A fundamental basis for successful support is dialogue with practitioners. Together with decision-makers from companies, we want to explore the challenges they face in training and what their needs are. Based on this, we can, if desired, offer a needs-based, free-of-charge programme for your company from a repertoire of training concepts in the form of in-house training courses or digital formats.
