TAF Research Seminar, Tami Dinh
On May 21, 2019 Tami Dinh from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) held a presentation on the real effect of accounting comparability on cross-border investment of foreign investors, as part of the TAF Research Seminar.
Her research focuses on capital markets and incentive contract choices using experimental research designs. Furthermore, she works in the area of financial accounting and international accounting, with particular interest in IFRS adoption, intangible assets, earnings management and conservatism.
For example, in 2018 she published the paper “Evolution of Intangible Asset Accounting: Evidence from Australia”, which deals with the adoption of IFRS in Australia and its impact on the accounting for intangible assets. Her papers were also published in the Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting, Journal of business finance & accounting, and The European Accounting Review.
Before taking up the position as professor in accounting at the University St. Gallen in 2014, Tami Dinh worked as an assistant professor in accounting at the University of Augsburg (Germany) from 2010-2011. Then she held a lecture’s position at the University of New South Wales (Australia). Moreover, she has practical experience from working at Allianz General Insurance in Vietnam and consulting for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hamburg.
Several times, Tami Dinh was awarded for her research achievements. Amongst others she received the Best Paper Award at the AFAANZ Conference 2018 for the paper “The Role of Accounting Rules in Mitigating Managerial Myopia: The Case of Investment in Software Development and R&D”.
