Prof Dr Urska Kosi from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at Paderborn University hosted the IASB Research Forum 2025 on 6 and 7 November together with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the journal Accounting Horizons. The research forum brings together leading experts from academia, standard-setting and business in a European city every three years - Paderborn was the host in 2025.
The Research Forum is one of the most important platforms for dialogue on accounting practice, standard setting and the direct link to transfer between academia, business practice and regulatory authorities. Current research papers from global experts were discussed and presented. These included Prof Christine Botosan from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in the USA, Paul Munter former Chief Accountant, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Tak Yano from the Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ) and Prof. Katherine Schipper from Duke University.
The IASB develops and publishes International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), a globally recognised reporting language that enables companies to report efficiently and cost-effectively and meets the needs of investors. More than 140 countries require the application of IFRS standards for listed companies. Chairman of the IASB is Dr. Andreas Barckow, alumnus of Paderborn University and Hall-of-Fame member of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.
