To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paderborn University, many events and online exhibitions are offered, such as the Hall of Femmes, which was implemented by the Central Equal Opportunity Officer in cooperation with the Mentoring Programs team and the Center of Gender Studies.
This online portal introduces Women with an impressive career and are associated with the University in various ways. You have the opportunity to read short interviews of them and gain exciting and individual insights into how Paderborn University has shaped their careers. We are very proud that our former colleague Jun.-Prof. Dr. Vanessa Flagmeier is included in the Hall of Femmes. After she decided to study International Business Studies at Paderborn University, she took the next step and completed her master’s degree. In 2017 she obtained her doctoral degree with Prof. Dr. Jens Müller as her supervisor. Currently, Prof. Flagmeier is lecturing as a Junior Professor of Accounting at the University of Passau. Looking back at her time at University Paderborn, she associates it with hard work but at the same time also with rewarding friendships and supportive social ties. Her advice to women who are thinking about following a similar career is to expand their network with caring mentors and inform themselves about their career opportunities as early as possible.
Paderborn University is determined to continue supporting women in their career paths and is firmly convinced that we can read more success stories like the one from Vanessa Flagmeier who is regarded as a role model for many students.
