Brief biography
Kirsten Thommes has been Professor for Organizational Behavior at the University of Paderborn since April 2018. Research
- Teamwork
-
In this research area, we are pursuing on the one hand the PredicTeams project, which takes place in cooperation with companies of the technology cluster it's OWL, and on the other hand another purely unversatile research project.
PredicTeams aims to develop a practice-oriented framework for predictive competence management for agile teams that enables companies to manage the transition to agile teamwork in digital working environments.
The purely university-based research project on teamwork focuses on the extent to which heterogeneity of team members influences team performance and, in particular, which types of heterogeneity have an impact on team performance.
- Organizational Identity & Behavior
-
In this research area, we are currently pursuing a project whereby we are looking for the specific building blocks of an organizational identity. The project has both a qualitative and quantitative empirical focus and is taking place in cooperation with the companies from the Schwarzwald and Glashütte company clusters.
- Human-Machine Interaction
-
In this research area, three projects are currently being pursued: Orient, KIAM and EcoDrive:
In the Orient project, as part of a large research consortium, we are exploring how to improve the introduction of new technologies and the learning of new skills ("orientation") for effective use of technologies in the sense of co-creation in the field of care. In particular, the use of robotic caregivers will be considered. While collaboration with stakeholders in the care sector is recurring within the research project, we are not working with fixed partners from the field in this project. The goal of the KIAM project is a regional competence center "AI in the working world of industrial SMEs" (KIAM). It is to serve as a contact point for companies and all other actors in the industrial working world. This project takes place within the framework of the technology cluster it's OWL with partners from practice.
As part of the EcoDrive project, we are using field experiments on professional drivers to research how entrepreneurs need to use telematics systems to achieve a most efficient, effective and sustainable improvement in driving behavior. The project takes place in cooperation with permanent partners from the practice.
In the framework of the for Diffusion of Quality AI project, we as a multidisciplinary and international team under the leadership of the chair of Prof. Grieß are investigating the factors that determine the diffusion, acceptance and quality of AI as well as its impact on society. The research of our chair focuses in particular on the area of human-machine interaction.
