The goal of the unit is to establish a consortium to study the accessibility of AI and facilitate its diffusion in high- and low-income countries.
At the University of Paderborn, the focus will be particularly on AI in Growth Theory and Human-Machine Interaction. The Chair of Organizatioanl Behavior under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Kirsten Thommes contributes in particular with her expertise in the field of Human-Machine Interaction.
The research project is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation as part of its program "Artificial Intelligence and Future of Society".
The core team consists of researchers from the University of Paderborn, RWTH Aachen University, Jheronimus Academy of Data Science, New York University, Siena University, ISDC-International Security and Development Centre Berlin and the Machine Intelligence Institute of Africa.
