Academic programs

Economics, International Business Studies, International Economics, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems and Business and Human Resource Education - all of our academic programs are interdisciplinary and closely coordinated. Paderborn's economics programs have been designed very close to the interface between economics and the information society. Our broad, forward-looking range of economics programs are aligned with information and communication systems, highly international, and maintain a strong applied outlook. The international character of our curricula is reflected in the Faculty's worldwide network of partners, its internationally recognized Bachelor's and Master's degrees and in the large number of modules and courses taught in English.

Getting to know us

Our series of open lectures and seminars enables prospective students to try out student life without having to go through any formal process.

Our Open Days are designed to allow school-leavers to spend some time on campus to learn about our academic programs and about studying at the University of Paderborn.

Girls' Day is an event specifically for girls who are interested in the technical academic subjects and careers offered at the University of Paderborn.

During the first week of lectures in each term - Orientation Week - new arrivals on campus are welcomed by two team leaders and introduced to student life.

Central Academic Advisory Office

The Central Academic Advisory Office (ZSB) assists prospective and existing students in all matters relating to possible academic programs, eligibility criteria, curricula, study schedules and academic degrees. It also supports them in switching subjects and/or academic programs, when they are forced to abort their program, and in preparing for exams. The ZSB counselling service provides advice to prospective and existing students on what subjects and programs are suitable for them and assists them with any psychological or psychosocial problems they may have during their time at Paderborn

Campus life

With a student population of around 14,700, the University of Paderborn is big enough in size to offer an attractive range of events and activities on campus. The Paderborn campus is more than just a collection of lecture halls and seminar rooms. The Student Union runs an outstanding refectory - one of the best in Germany -, the Gownsmen's Pub, the Caféte café, which offers coffees and snacks, and many other facilities. Many students live in university housing very close to campus. The University offers an extensive range of sports facilities for athletically minded students as well as a 350 m² health gym with fitness and weight machines and qualified instructors. Paderborn is the only university with a driving range and a golf academy that provides training to both top players and beginners. Culture is also very much part of campus life, with regular performances by the University Big Band and Jazz Choir, art exhibitions, lectures, writers-in-residence, and drama performances on our studio stage. Not to mention the University's annual Summer Festival which draws more than 10,000 visitors every year.
